When it comes to the best restaurants, creating a beautiful space is a lot like creating a delicious dish: it takes a perfect list of ingredients and great chemistry. Two Seattle restaurants in particular have received wide acclaim—and were named to Seattle Homes & Lifestyles’  Seattle Design 100+ in 2006—because of their perfect execution of such a recipe that combines a uniquely delicious menu with impeccable service and an exquisitely designed space.

Though Canlis and Crush both serve remarkable food, they are vastly different in other ways. One has endured more than 57 years as a staple Northwest dining establishment. In each of its three redesigns since opening in 1950, Canlis further defined the essence of our region’s interior and architectural styles. By contrast, 3-year-old Crush is a relative youngster but has earned praise for its sophisticated take on modernism while respecting the integrity of the historic Tudor, both inside and out, in which it resides.

As different as they appear in personality, Canlis and Crush have at least one trait in common: interior styles that make design lovers swoon.

It may be impossible to replicate a Canlis or Crush experience in its entirety in your own home—especially when it comes to the mouth-watering work produced by their kitchens—but you can at least aim for a distinctive interior that captures the “flavor” of one of those dining rooms.
