Sitting Pretty
We pick our favorites from the hundreds of stylish chair designs we saw on the floors of local showrooms and retail stores. Our picks vary from industrial to eco-friendly, sassy to summery, but they all have one thing in common: they make us want to put our feet up and linger. Sit tight, because this month’s content is full of gorgeous chairs such as these.

Shawn Williams, art director:

“The graphic Bubble Chair by Eero Aarnio is one of my favorites. I love its industrial design, and sitting in it makes me feel like I’m swinging from a chandelier.” $4,675 at Egbert’s, 2231 First Ave., (206) 728-5682.

Jill Mogen, publisher:

“Check out this sassy chair—what attitude! I get a kick out of this design by San Francisco-based Ted Boerner because it shows a sense of humor as well as style. It welcomes the socializing side in all of us.” Available to the trade through Terris Draheim Inc., Seattle Design Center, Ste. P-288, (206) 763-4100.

Lindsey Rowe, assistant editor:
“I’m already thinking about summer’s bright colors and garden parties. I love the lime, orange and magenta versions of Tord Boontje’s Nest chair, with its signature embossed floral pattern and flower shape. If it can’t be summer, at least I can plop down in this chair and dream of sunny days.” $687 each at Velocity Art & Design, 251 Yale Ave. N., (206) 749-9575.

Giselle Smith, editor:
“I love this sleek indoor Gisele Lounge Chair designed by Aristeu Pires—not just because of its name—but because it’s eco-friendly, made of natural cotton rope and jequitiba, a sustainable Brazilian hardwood.” $950 at Design Within Reach.
